This is the first post on Growtivate.net and like other previous sites before (there have been a couple) I feel a need to make this first post something memorable. Something amazing and fantastic that will launch the site into popularity.
Something that I have also learned from previous attempts though is that few people will actually read this is. I am ok with that though. In part, knowing that actually helps! It helps because it gives the motivation to get started without the unreasonable expectation to succeed from the very first word.
As the online product development mantra goes “done is better than perfect”. There is no point spending more time than is necessary tweaking the small details for something if it results in an audience never seeing it. It is no good spending a huge amount of time on anything, if it means that something else isn’t worked on. There is a point of ‘diminishing returns’ where the time that you are spending on something is improving something so marginally that you should just be working on something else.
For this first post though I would like to set the scene for what I envision this site to be about. As much for me to refer to and keep me true to my vision as for anyone else that is curious about what they can expect.
In fact, that is one of the guiding principles of the Growtivate site. Much of the content will be references to things that have helped me. Things that I would like to refer to or think that others will benefit from. A collection of things that I feel strongly about or that have helped in my personal journey of growth and development.
There is a massive amount of truly awesome content on the internet. Inspirational things created by amazing people. It is my intention to create a reference place of these motivational and educational things. The sort of ‘evergreen’ ideas that will be helpful in all of our ongoing journey of personal development. Some of these will be things that have generated a real epiphany in my own thinking or that just make really good sense. Some will be ideas that I have had myself, although I am conscious that given the size of the world and the sheer number of brilliant people in it, I will make few claims that I was the first to have an idea. Where possible I will attempt to quote or refer to the origin or inspiration for a concept.
Something that I will sincerely commit to though will be that all posts will only be as long as they need to be to get the point across. Some may be long, others are likely to be short. The important thing is the transfer of knowledge.
In the same vein, this site won’t contain ‘filler’ content. If I don’t have something great to share, I won’t share anything. I really don’t see a risk in running out of this sort of content though. Given the awesome scale of inspiring and motivational content around!
